Homemade pizza time

I shared my farmers-market-shopping - it is something I really love; browsing, talking to the stall holders, sampling & then taking home some special things to share with the family.

While out at the market, we were tempted by the selection of cheeses, the parma ham & fresh tomatoes & knew straight away that they were perfect for home made pizza.

A stop at an en route farm shop provided some really good seeded flour. We all love seeds & even though it is not traditional in pizza, it was what we used.

My wondering star daughter & her chap are passionate about their food & so I was only too happy to leave them to it while I did what I like doing - taking photos!

Parmesan, mature cheddar, goats cheese for toppings ....

Really good parma ham from the market stall

Freshly made tomato sauce with passata, garlic & chillies

A vegetarian pizza topping of peppers, spring onions & thinly sliced marrow

I found this slicer on a market stall years ago - it has 'patent pending' on it so I think it is the original one & it works a treat at slicing various thicknesses so we used it on the cheeses

Fresh herbs from our garden, snipped with my special herb scissors

This is a ham, cheese & tomato pizza in the making

This one ham, cheddar & goats cheese with fresh mint (youngest daughter finds goats cheese too rich so it was only on some of the pizzas)

Hot out of the oven

Bubbling hot Vegetable pizza  from the oven

We finished off with a chocolate brownie & ice-cream

Heavenly, I love having the foodies at home because they love trying different foods, wines & are good company. Thanks for a fabulous meal :)

Farmers market shopping

We are very fortunate to live close to several market towns & farm shops.

They offer farm fresh produce that is both interesting & healthy. The food is not run of the mill supermarket stuff & I love being able to browse & interact with the stall holders.

This lovely selection at the apley farm shop

By supporting our local farmers, we are keeping them in business which can only be a good thing.

Do you enjoy food markets? What do they offer that you enjoy most?

Pink paisley for summer ....

I shared my love of  the-beauty-of-paisley recently. I just love the paisley pattern - the  predictable repeated pattern is very easy on the eye & soothing on the mind. I am delighted that it is 'in' fashion & is appearing more often without it being 'granny' or dated.

On a quick trip to Ikea with a friend, I saw this bedding across the way & just knew I had to have it ....

I often dither about new bits because I am very clear in my mind what I like & what I don't, but I just knew this was the change my bedroom needed for Summer.

I have had the Cath Kidson Rosali bedding on for winter with its shabby chic flowers & check but it was time for something fresh ...

The lovely paisley of the Ikea SYLNARV is lovely & fresh with a lighter OFELIA throw

I love the texture of the throw

I doubt I will use the reverse of the duvet as dots are not really my thing ...

One massive improvement in the IKEA duvet covers - they have a bottom fastening.  Some of their older ones just have an opening & this one has a very hand large zip so it is really quick to get on ... fabulous! The pillow cases are also zipped - perfect!

Lighter & brighter & favourite pattern - do you like the change? Are you an IKEA fan?

Tea & rose biscuits

I do love gifts from other places - daughter & Andy brought back some Rose biscuits from their trip to France & I must say I was only too happy to put on the kettle & try them out ....

Delicate finger / boudoir biscuits with a hint of rose - perfect with a cup of tea.

Are you a fan of rose flavoured water & cakes?

Healthy Summer food

It is so much easier to eat healthy in warm weather when light foods & salads are the norm in our household.

The warm weather means that we can have lots of walks around our local lake

Our drink of choice is lots of citrus water which is good for skin & weight too

Pitta breads are perfect light suppers - wholewheat ones with lean meatballs & lots of salad

My favourite salad dressing is a light drizzle of this fabulous balsamic vinegar

There is nothing nicer than getting out in the sunshine & eating al fresco on the patio with the fountain nearby

Whole roast chicken with new potatoes, a spicy salsa, houmous & salad - perfect!

Fresh fruit is a perfect end to a meal with meringues, yoghurt & grated dark chocolate

Good for the heart too ....

A whole roast chicken also means that the next day we can have homemade chicken & vegetable pies with salad - really tasty ....

My wine boffs have moved back home so we are spoilt for choice with

and some refreshing champagne beer ...

What is your favourite warm weather / light food?  Is it easier to have salads? Please inspire me with some new recipes ....
