A girlies night out in Birmingham

My awondering star daughter bought some tickets for her & her sister for Green Day's An American Idiot American_Idiot_(musical) but was unable to use hers so we took StacySparkle  instead ....

The girlies decided to make a night of it - do supper & some browsing too as we don't get to Birmingham that often.

We based ourselves at the iconic Mailbox & enjoyed the lovely setting along the canals as they were lit up with lots of cafe's & bars open.

Once we got out of the theatre & back to the Mailbox, most things were shutting up so we enjoyed a late night Nando's meal. Nando's originated in South Africa during the 1980's in a suburb called Rosettenville & I visited it in their early days when it was run by Portuguese immigrants who had fled the civil wars of Mozambique & Angola & I immediately fell for the wonderful peri-peri spices & flavours. Nandos Story

They have fortunately come to the UK & so it is always a taste of 'home'

We all loved the curtain of lights & the feel of the quiet building once the crowds had left

I loved the reflections of the nightlife on the canals at the Mailbox

Then headed home on the M6 at midnight only to find ... several miles of tailbacks because the road was closed overnight for repairs & so we chugged along before we were eventually directed off along the diversion, past dark, sleeping streets while we wondered about the residents looking out of their windows on a quiet Saturday morning & wondering where all the traffic came from.

A short journey home turned into a marathon 90 min trip back but our spirits remained high ...

Not often we get out at night in the big city with the girls & my fast-growing-up daughter so we enjoyed it.

Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy your feedback & your links enable me to return the visit.

Take care,
Dee ~♥~
