The festive sideboard is ready ...

I love changing the things on our sideboard several times a year to show events & seasons. Our conservatory is a well used family space with bright views over the garden & it is cosy in the evening with the blinds drawn against the night chills.

I always try to change each room every year & fortunately, I found these lovely robin plates, mugs & jug on the Ludlow market. Robins are so quintessentially British, especially at Christmas. Unfortunately, while chatting away to my friend, I forgot to get some so the Tipsy Tart offered to get them for me & they arrived safely with her last weekend. Aren't they just lovely?

They are quite happy to share the sideboard with the Spode Christmas tree plates & bowls, as well as the Emma Bridgewater mince pie plate - a common colour binds them all ...

I might have got carried away with a larger garland on the top so I had to find a new space for the vintage cameras ...

As for the many candle sticks - well, you just never know how many will need to be lit over the festive season & it is so frustrating to be looking for candles that I decided to just have them all ready & I think they look rather nice en masse too. What do you think?

Random deer are evident in the dining room too. A creamy deer platter & the deer tealight holder are perfectly lovely on the sideboard.

A student, on hearing what my tree would be, gifted me a deer snow globe - a very thoughtful & welcome gift! Don't you just love random gifts that you know you will love?

And so my friends, the deer seem to have continued in a small way across the various rooms of the house - a common thread that binds the rooms & which reflect my style.

They give a comfortable, homely feel to the house & I look forward to welcoming in friends & family over the festive season.

I hope your preparations are going well, please add a link so I can peek at them ....
