Welcome December

Welcome December

You have sneaked in rather quickly; I am not ready for the countdown to Christmas ....

I have the 2 advent calendars up on either side of the inglenook fireplace - filled with favourite chocolates. These are our ones which are perfect for the fireplace.

I love our rituals associated with Christmas - advent calendars & candles are so homely.

We light the candle every night while we eat supper & some times ... it might just burn past the number but that is part of the fun.

Today is also the first Sunday of Advent - the count down of the 4 Sunday's to Christmas.

It is traditionally the time of the 'darkness to light' rituals & Christingle services for the first of the Christmas observances.

I will make a few pomanders from clementine's & cloves today which will scent the house with their festive smells.

For me, the observance of such traditions sets a rhythm to to the season & hopefully it creates memories that future generations will remember. Do you have family traditions you observe in the run up to Christmas?

Thank you for stopping by, hope December brings much joy ...
